The roar (the period prior to mating season) at Makapua Station starts late March and ends in late April. The roar is always spectacular with large numbers of stags fighting for supremacy.
It is a phenomenon that has to be experienced to be believed.
As one client has said – “When you get back to town and tell your mates about what you have been doing it all sounds like a tall story”. Stags are often heard roaring from the homestead and out in the bush the clashing of antlers can often be heard as stags battle it out in the bush.
